Attorney Access & Advice
Work directly with experienced EmployersLawyer attorneys on your most challenging workplace issues. No hourly billing. No retainers. Just practical, California-focused legal advice at a predictable and affordable cost.
We offer a smarter way to engage counsel, built for ongoing support, informed decisionmaking, and prevention that holds up. EmployersLawyers allows California organizations to work with experienced counsel without the cost barriers of traditional law firms.
Direct Connection to Experienced Counsel
Clients that choose our highest level of support, Signature, can schedule time directly with Joe or Jen when they need it.
This provides a direct connection to experienced employment counsel who advise on real decisions as they are being made, including terminations, discipline, investigations, leave issues, and other high-risk moments where judgment matters.
Whether it is a termination decision, a sensitive employee issue, or a developing wage and hour risk, direct involvement from counsel changes how decisions are made and how risk is managed.
This level of engagement, traditionally reserved for organizations with significant legal budgets, is now available in a more practical and cost-conscious way.
Regular Access
Premium and Signature clients engage directly with our attorneys during Office Hours and California Compliance Monthly sessions, which are held no less than twice a week. These live, practical discussions focus on what employers are dealing with right now, with the opportunity to ask questions and pressure-test decisions before taking action. And every Office Hours ends with the opportunity for clients to have a 1:1 attorney/client privileged discussion regarding the issues on their desk at that moment.
Advice, Built Into the Model
Traditional legal models are reactive. Questions arise, a call is made, and advice comes later, often after the risk has already taken shape.
For many employers, calling an attorney before there is an actual problem has simply not been an option due to cost, timing, and limited availability.
That timing gap is where problems grow. Decisions are made with incomplete information. Situations escalate. Positions harden. By the time legal guidance is applied, options are narrower and the cost of getting it wrong is higher.
EmployersLawyer is built differently.
The result is a shift in timing. Legal judgment is applied earlier, while options are still open and decisions can still be shaped. That changes outcomes. It also creates consistency across the organization, so similar issues are handled with the same level of care and analysis each time they arise.
Ongoing Guidance, Not One-Off Answers
Minimizing employment law risk does not start and stop with a single conversation with your attorney.
Our tools, templates, and resources reflect the same legal judgment we apply in practice, so the guidance is consistent, practical, and ready to use. This allows internal teams to move more efficiently while staying aligned with California requirements.
Behind it all is ELLA™, built on the frameworks, analysis, and real-world approach developed over more than 50 years of Joe and Jen’s practice. The answers and resources clients receive reflect the same thinking they would get working with Joe and Jen directly.
Stop Issues Before They Escalate
Most employment claims do not come out of nowhere. They develop over time through small decisions, missed opportunities, or uncertainty about what to do next.
With consistent legal guidance and the right tools, issues can be addressed earlier. Decisions can be tested before they are finalized. Organizations move forward with greater clarity and confidence, reducing the likelihood of costly disputes and disruption. This allows leaders and HR teams to act with greater certainty, even in complex or time-sensitive situations.
A Better Way to Work With Lawyers
Our law firm is designed to make experienced legal guidance more accessible, more practical, and more cost sensitive, consistent with how workplaces actually operate.
Instead of paying for isolated, high-cost conversations after a problem arises, clients have ongoing support, insight, and direction that supports better outcomes over time. And that is good for California employers and California employees!
